The Fairfield girls’ basketball team won its seventh consecutive District 19-4A game Friday night with a 53-47 triumph at Mexia.

The victory improved the Lady Eagles’ record to 7-0 in district. They had already clinched the district championship and went for a sweep of district play Tuesday when they hosted Madisonville.

The Lady Eagles used a 12-0 run in the first quarter to take a 16-6 advantage at the first break.

However, Mexia battled back throughout the game and took the lead early in the fourth quarter.
