Pretrial date set for man accused of Allen’s murder

A gathering of court officials and state troopers entered the Freestone County Courthouse on Friday morning, June 28, for an update on a high-profile case.

Dabrett Black, charged with capital murder of a peace officer after the death of State Trooper Damon Allen in November 2017, appeared in court with his legal counsel. The court announced an intended pretrial date and time for the Black case, which will be at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 26.
